چکیده

This paper presents a system for video shot retrieval in which shots are retrieved based on matching video objects using a combination of colour, shape and texture. Rather than matching on individual objects, our system supports sets of query objects which in total reflect the user’s object-based information need. Our work also adapts to a shifting user information need by initiating the partitioning of a user’s search into two or more distinct search threads, which can be followed by the user in sequence. This is an automatic process which maps neatly to the ostensive model for information retrieval in that it allows a user to place a virtual checkpoint on their search, explore one thread or aspect of their information need and then return to that checkpoint to then explore an alternative thread. Our system is fully functional and operational and in this paper we illustrate several design decisions we have made in building

Video Content Representation for Shot Retrieval and Scene Extraction

+ The work reported in this paper was mainly performed when this author was working at Microsoft Research, China as a research intern. In this paper, we present a novel scheme on video content representation by exploring the spatiotemporal information. A pseudo-object-based shot representation containing more semantics is proposed to measure shot similarity and an force competition approach is ...

Integrating color and spatial features for content-based video retrieval

In this paper, we present a novel scheme for content-based video retrieval by exploring the spatio-temporal information. A shot with significant content changes can be segmented into several subshots that are of coherent content, and shot similarity measure for video retrieval can be computed from the similarity between corresponding subshots. To characterize the temporal content variations in ...

An Evolving Approach on Video Frame Retrieval Based on Color, Shape and Region

This paper proposes a new methodology for matching of objects in video based on the color, shape and region. The objects are segmented and indexed based on the similarity between the frames. The similarity feature such as color, shape and region are measured for the objects between two videos are matched and they are displayed. The similarities between two frames are resulted from three major f...

Fine-granularity semantic video annotation: An approach based on automatic shot level concept detection and object recognition

Purpose – A fine-grained video content indexing, retrieval, and adaptation requires accurate metadata describing the video structure and semantics to the lowest granularity, i.e. to the object level. The authors address these requirements by proposing semantic video content annotation tool (SVCAT) for structural and high-level semantic video annotation. SVCAT is a semi-automatic MPEG-7 standard...

Hybrid Video Segmentation with Feature Extraction using Anisotropic Diffusion

In recent years, video segmentation is considered as the major research area for digital storage. Video segmentation is different from the image segmentation. Video segmentation is a challenging problem. In video segmentation, for a given image the segmentation achieved should be related to the previous image that belongs to the same shot. In our proposed video segmentation technique, at first ...
